LED Video Display Frequently Asked Questions

What is "pixel pitch" and why does it matter?

Pixel pitch is the distance in millimeters (mm) from the center of one LED cluster (or pixel) to the center of the adjacent LED cluster. Pixel pitch is important because it influences viewing distance and cost.

What is resolution?

Resolution refers to the size of the display in terms of pixels both horizontally and vertically.

How does pixel pitch relate to resolution?

Higher pixel pitch = lower resolution

Lower pixel pitch = higher resolution

What should I know about viewing distance?

When a person gets relatively close to an LED display, it is possible to see the individual pixels and the black gaps or space between them. From a distance, our eyes fill in the gaps to complete the image. When the viewing distance is far, you can choose a higher pitch because you can’t see the details. When the LED display size is small it is better to have a smaller pitch. You can cut your costs and still have a beautiful display by going with a larger pixel pitch if your audience isn’t too close to the display. Contact our sales team today to determine the ideal display size for your needs.

What are "nits"?

Nits are used to describe the brightness of the video display. The higher the nits, the brighter the screen and the more easily it can be seen in daylight.

What if I don’t have a production crew and control room?

No problem! Our single-operator system allows the display to be controlled by one individual. All of our display packages come preloaded with presentation software and a library of in-game graphics, animations and player profile templates. As you grow in numbers and experience, the system easily expands to host multiple cameras and additional personnel.

How do I choose the best location for my new video display?

First, consider the setting. Will your video be placed indoors? If so, consider the most open and flat wall space available. Also, think about the viewing distance and the seating angle of the home team.

A quick way to determine location is to mock up the wall using painter’s tape to mark the physical size of the video display.

What are the power requirements for my display?

Power requirements are directly related to the size of the display product and the pixel pitch. Please contact your sales representative for details or refer to the power requirements on the corresponding product page.

Can I have more than one display in my arena?

Absolutely!
